So what happened to the ELVs over the Summer?
After last season the IRB has chosen to discard 3 ELVs: Law 17 - Head/shoulder must not be lower than the hips, Law 17 - Pulling down the maul, Law 19 - Choice of numbers in line-out.
So what does that mean for us? Simply the laws reverts and again says "Players joining a maul must have their heads and shoulders no lower than their hips". Sanction = Free Kick. "A player must not intentionally collapse a maul. This is dangerous play." Sanction = Penalty Kick. Finally as far as forming a line-out is concerned, "At least 2 players from each team must form a line-out. The team throwing in the ball decides the maximum number of players in the line-out." Sanction = Free Kick on the 15m line.
